To say I was clueless about ‘all things baby’ is an understatement. I always knew I wanted to be a mother, but from a very small family, I had never been around babies or young children. It felt like an alien new world. I remember sitting scrolling aimlessly at blogs recommending the ‘essentials’, not knowing where to start and almost wanting to just break down and cry (blame the hormones ). Enter Martha. Martha not only has the experience of 3 children herself, but a further 25+ nieces/nephews…which makes her a really safe and wide ranging font of knowledge.

What struck me most about collaborating with Martha was how deeply she cares about the person in front of her.

She is incredibly passionate, asks great questions and is a fantastic spotter of patterns; therefore able to diagnose best route / best equipment from slings, to prams, to car seats…

My first experience with Martha was attending a sling workshop. It offered a chance for partners to attend too: offered a buffet of potential slings, loads of time to practice, get it ‘wrong’ and understand the safety tips and tricks and build confidence. Martha accompanied me to a pram shop and comforted me when I (literally) sat down and had a cry on the floor. She instinctively took the reins, taking my ‘must haves’ list, advocating for me with the shop assistant and encouraging me to test drive buggies around to ensure they felt right. Not a hair was left out of place - style, colour, look, alongside weight, practicalities like ease of collapse, storage, durability, all weather options etc. I came out of the shop knowing exactly what I wanted and it was a bigger gift than I think she realised.

Martha is always calm, considered and thoughtful in her approach. I remember sending what felt like 100 links for car seats and she carefully analysed the suggestions alongside my tickboxes and offered thoughts and alternatives where applicable. 2 years into motherhood I can happily report that the 360 spinning car seat has completely saved mine (and my partners!) back. Working with Martha simply meant avoiding overwhelm, something that can be synonymous with an oversaturated market full to the brim of options. Martha quietened the ‘noise’ around the decision making, acting trusted advisor and companion and I don’t know how I would have navigated it without her. Still today, she is my absolute go-to.
